Well folks the FTC will be holding a policy meeting focused on DRM at the University of Washington Law School in the William H. Gates Hall (what irony) and the public's opinion is solicited. The government needs to hear from us the unwashed masses that have been getting shit on for nearly a decade with the blatant assfuckery, known as DRM, by the big media companies.

So please take the time to express yourself here. Sadly enough to date only 700 people have submitted comments. You can read th...

The Governor of Michigan showed some love for StarDock in her State-of-the-State address. Jennifer Granholm, a well know political leader that considers the media production industry a close friend for her constituents showed some good ol' fashion love for SD by touting it as a major economic player in the industry, in her State, by taking time to name its expansion project in her speech. Would you like to know more? Then go here. For a copy of the speech you can click here.

Normally I would not pimp a story without any direct relevance to gaming or gamers, in general, but this story is very worthy in my not so humble opinion and warrants thoughtful consideration on the part all forum members. This is especially so given the current economic state-of-affairs within America.

Having been a victim of erroneous on my report a several years ago, which required me to make an extreme and costly effort to resolve, I can't say I'm amazed that the system has not changed mu...

It appears the FTC is looking into the issues with DRM and the effects on consumers and they are soliciting experts on the topic to participate in the discussion. I think this is the PERFECT opportunity for the GBR to be touted on behalf of gamers everywhere. Moreover I suspect several big publishers will have agents participating and we need a publisher who looks out for consumers to be there! Consequently I think this is a job for FrogBoy! Additionally I would like to see the presidents of GPG...

GP just published its fascinating people of gaming list and Frogboy make the cut. It is a pretty intriguing list with lofty names such as Obama, Palin, and the infamous JT. For more information follow the link.

Congrats Frogboy!

Update: Frogboy was also listed on Edge's PC Gaming’s ’08 News-Makers list. You can read about it here.

So that is, one industry hero award & two VIP nods. Methinks it is official then, Frogboy is a bona fide celebrity.

I need someone that is good with using Adobe Illustrator and has artistic talent. I want to make a company logo for a second business I'm starting and try as I might I can't get the design to look good. The lady looks like a dude always. I simply suck at creating vector and line art stuff even when tracing! The design concept is very simple and should not take more than an hour for anyone with a modicum of talent. If anyone is interested please let me know ASAP.

A couple weeks ago I asked people to nominate Frogboy for the third annual Edge Game Industry Heroes Award (EGIHA). It is given to 25 people in the industry worldwide that engender respect for the profession and demonstrated superior ability in achieving lasting tangible positive results throughout the year. They are seen as a catalyst of success and inspire confidence and admiration within their peer group and others.

I like to think of the EGIHA as an a combined Olympic & Oscar award fo...

OK. If you thought your childhood was bad because of your name then be grateful you were not born in this family. Oddly enough the little tyke looks a lot like Damien - Seriously!

I can see all the playground "fun" this poor sod will have especially if he grows up in any metropolitan area.

A follow up story is here.

I just read a very good article about the attempt to establish a business selling used digital products and the way in which the company is going about doing it. The article is a very good source of information regarding IPR and the modern market. I think it is something that everyone on these forums should read given the implications for game and for companies like SD &IC that sale stuff in the pure digital form via Impulse and arguably on disk. Would you like to know more? Then follow the ...

Aloha!

I figured you guys should know about this given that Ubi will be the first major publisher to take such a "risk". The official comment is here. I would like to see this information get some serious news coverage and word-of-mouth support so gamers can vote with their wallets on the topic and put one more nail in the coffin of DRM.

Note: I have zero interest in this title but will get a copy to support the move.

Leigh Alexander takes a look at piracy from the industry side in a two-parter for Gamasutra. The link is to a reference article on GP about the interviews. Of note, is a reference to Frogboy and EA from the new "PC Gaming Alliance". It is:

[Stardock CEO] Brad [Wardell]'s approach is very hands-off. I think that if the PCGA as an organization is going to be all-embracing, if Stardock were to become a member and EA were to become a member, I think there are very obvious differences in thei...

OK. All you StarDock revolutionaries, it is time to act!

Edge has announced this year's Game Industry Hero nominations for the top 25 people in the industry. Consequently Brad "Frogboy" Wardell, President of StarDock needs YOU!The Edge editorial staff will select the wins based largely on submissions from the gaming community. To the best of my knowledge I believe this is the third year Edge will be doing this and it gets more fanfare each year. Think of it as the people's choice awards for ...

I was wondering since SD does not have an MMO title yet and since TR is a scifi one that has a small but committed following that will be shut down soon, if it would not be something that SD could use as a first step into the MMO world. I think such a move would be well received by the gaming community given SD scifi based game orientation.
